As I drive, I switch cd’s again, one handed, keeping my gaze trained on the road ahead.
I can feel you eyeing me warily from the passenger seat, and I hear you teasing me about close calls with curbs and traffic signs as you tighten your safety belt for the fifth time. You still let me drive anyway, wondering out loud at what point exactly one of my side mirrors is going to become a casualty.

Hello all! Today I want to share something close to my heart with you.
Today is M’s Birthday, my best friend who passed away last March. It’s not much, but I wanted to write something for her again today.

I can still see her. Dressed all in black. Standing at my side, just a half step behind. If I turn my head, I know she’ll be watching me with that quiet smile that she always gives to everyone, even if I can’t really see her face.

Lol, show of hands – who (besides me, because you know I did) just started thinking of, or maybe even singing, “Getting To Know You” from The King and I?
Anywho, I write on DarkJade’s blog as well – Legends Undying – and this week DarkJade has asked everybody who writes there to introduce themselves and tell everybody a little about themselves as a writer and what we’re currently working on. And I thought I’d like to share it here as well. 🙂

A Mountain Overlook Outside the Capital City of Neluk.

Meya Hestina kept her body low to the ground, holding the feline form of the kurag she was attuned to. A deadly predator, she moved silently through the tall grass, ropey muscles tensing as she wound between trees and low, leafy plants. In the darkness, where the light of the moon couldn’t reach through the thick canopy of arching branches and purplish blue and green leaves, her deep red fur was indistinguishable from her surroundings. Black tipped her short, pointed ears and long tail, and ran in a line from the crown of her head to a point between her shoulder blades, narrowing as it went.
An anuk aspect, this was her chosen animal. She had practiced until keeping this form became second nature. Barely needing to concentrate, she was free to let her senses roam. Picking up the soft pulse of the energies around her. Listening to the faint rustling sounds of wind in the leaves and the heartbeats of other creatures. Her sharp, pale blue eyes caught the subtle movements of those smaller animals in the darkness.
